SENTINEL FORMAL MODELING

MODEL_CHECKER: COMPLIANT
Leslie Lamport's Temporal Logic of Actions

Mathematical Validation

Instead of relying solely on testing, we formally verify the concurrency, state-isolation, and self-healing convergence of Sentinel V2. This page lists our modular TLA+ specs and the architectural rationale behind our TLA+ design decisions.

Design Rationale

Module 1: The Navigator & Validator Engine

Models Stages 1 and 2 of the HUD Pipeline on Playwright's runtime context.

Bimodal DOM State (A11y vs Vision)

In production, elements can exist in the DOM structure (accessibility tree) but be visually occluded by modals, snacks, or cookie popups. TLA+ models this by checking both structural presence and visual visibility status before allowing interactions, verifying that overlays must be dismissed first.

Deterministic Validation Check

By verifying whether DOM status evaluates to Occluded or Missing during 2_Validator execution, we formally route states to either Extractor (Success) or Healer (Failure) with mathematical precision, preventing the agent from executing code on top of broken layouts.

Formal Guarantee: This TLA+ module has been model-checked with TLC up to search step depth of 12. No safety invariant violations or deadlocks were discovered under finite domain bounds.

Formal Logic Verification Deep Dive

1. SOLID Isolation Invariant

The safety invariant SolidFolderIsolation proves that modifications on files of Site_A leave the POMs, Gherkins, and Playwright scripts of Site_B mathematically untouched. TLC verifies this across every execution path, guaranteeing absolute directory isolation.

2. Deadlock Freedom

Composition in TLA+ often introduces deadlocks. In early iterations of Module 4, an LLM API timeout would strand the execution context in an unrecoverable state. By modeling and verifying Master_TriggerRCA, we mathematically guarantee that the system can recover, retry, and converge.

3. Atomic Alignment

Under the OCP (Open-Closed Principle), patches must be incremental. The invariant AtomicPipelineAlignment verifies that the lengths of the BDD feature list and the Playwright specification file map index-for-index at the success boundary, ensuring that we never generate a specification without its accompanying Gherkin log.
